Kelik Kota Bahru - Part 2

After getting enough rest we started our XPDC around 2pm to tour Kota Bahru town. It was afternoon and the sun shining straight 90 deg C on top of our head. What were we thinking...?? However we got limited time here so no matter the condition was, hot or wet, we had to go through it. From our hotel, our first destination was to Pasar Ct Khadijah. We could see lots of  stalls were set up along the way from our hotel to the Jln Ct Khadijah. Seems like there would be a Pasar Malam tonight.

Here we go... LAMAN SITI KHADIJAH.

Ape2 pun before started our tour, we need to fill our stomach so kaki terus melangkah ke food stall yg ade kat situ. Starved, we had a Nasi Ayam (fast n easy)...

After had our stomach filled, we quickly passed through the market area as we planned to visit other places first then we came back here for shopping.

Our first destination was KAMPUNG KRAFTANGAN (CRAFT VILLAGE) which located just next to the Pasar Siti Khadijah.

(Ok saya ade sedikit tamak di sini, so kuantiti gambar yg diupload agak banyak. Gambar Nor xde pun, nama blog aku, so haku punya suka la!!)

Pintu Gerbang pun dah hebat! Ala2 istana melayu lama.

Main entrance to Craft Village

Me infront the main building, Balai Getam Guri(hall) which is a handicraft museum. Entrance fee to the museum is RM 1 for adult. However due to limited time left, we didn't enter the museum and just took photos outside the building only.

Cant remember what type of "Balai" is this.

There were a souvenir shops and gallery on the ground floor.

And the management office on the first floor. (Budget pose ala2 kampung style)

Side view...

All the info you need is here, just click to enlarge.

Next, jalan2 lagi....
Ops... what the heck, amik gamba dlm longkang. Actually I just love my job so much so everytime I saw something related to my work, it will remind me of my job. (Hope my Boss read it!!) So this time I saw elbow pipe, I took photo as a prove how much I miss office eventhough I was in vacation that time. KNM in heart. Yuksss!!!

Located opposite of the Craft Village is ISTANA BATU (Stone Castle).

You have to pay to enter the Castle/istana, so we just took photos outside. Not because we were too "kede" to pay (ala RM2/adult pun...), like I mention our time was quite tight. Asal dpt tgk dr luar and ada gambar kira pass la...

Check out the info here (Tgk baik hati lagi tp sbnarnya pemalas nk type info panjang2... strategi beb!)

Checked map for our next location. Very user friendly....

This area is known as SUDUT SENI (ART CORNER)

In front of the ROYAL GUESS HOUSE, berangan to be Royal guess...

Luckily all the interesting places/tourism attractions located next to another so we didn't have to walk much and very easy to find all the places. Next we went to ISTANA JAHAR.

Ok, sesi membaca info sekali lagi.

I always adore the classic architecture... cool design and imagine the strength and stability of the building. Still standing even after more than 100 years been built.

Our vacation theme that time was "outdoor photoshoot" so as ussual la... we didn't enter the istana. BDW, the admission fee is RM3/adult for those who interested to check out what is inside.

Beautifull park. Wakaf at my back a place to read Qoran in peace.

Souvenir stalls

Jalan punya jalan, finally we reached PADANG MERDEKA (INDEPENDENCE FIELD). However there were few buildings that still under construction and closed for visitors.

This memorial photo was taken between the fences... GIGIH!

Trust me, I wore shade bkn kerana melaram semata2. The weather that time was damn hot! I was thirsty all the time and this was the 2nd drinks I had...

Saya merungut cuaca yg panas, sdgkan akibat cuaca sebeginilah yg menghasilkan gumpalan awan yg begitu indah dan mempesonakan sekali. Subhannallah... (Can U see the statue of Al-Quran among the arches... symbolickan?)

I can't stop from took a photo not just once or twice....

But lots and lots more. Just love the arches and the clouds effect behind it! Pose pun ala2 penuh kesyukuran. FAKE!!

Lastly we went to Kelantan State Mosque, MASJID MUHAMMADIAH.

Motif tangan ala2 sami budha.....?

A traditional building next to the mosque..

We used the same route like when we came here before so we stopped at BULUH KUBU BAZAAR (BAMBOO FORT BAZAARAS) to buy few souvenirs for family and friends.

At Pasar CT Khadijah. It's nearly dusk so most of the stalls already closed.

We also went to the BAZAAR MPKB located along the way at Jalan Siti Khadijah to our hotel to buy local snacks..

Sotong kering traditionally made. Siap ade alat nk lenyek sotong tu mcm nk perah tebu.

Infront the nearest bus station. There's a reason why we went here. I will tell ya in the next post coz it's related. (budget suspen la tu..)

Finally we reached our hotel around 6pm. Superb isn't...? In just 2hrs we managed to cover whole KB and the result my skin already got burned... Tanned ke kenduri kawen nampaknya. We wanted to prepare ourselves to attend Zetty solemnization plak...

So to be continued...

Kelik Kota Bahru

Hi there, I just back from Kelantan so before I started getting busy with other job, I think it's better for me to update on my journey there.

Ok, I went to Kota Bahru to attend my best friend wedding, Zetty with Nor. We already bought the tickets earlier and as per ZT's suggestion, we chose Mutiara Konsortium.

Our journey started on Friday, one day before ZT's solemnization after office hour. We went out from office around 8pm to Hentian Duta by LRT train.

Hentian Putra was so packed! Our bus departed at 9.30 pm so we got ample time to buy snacks and went to the loo. Crazy thing happened in the toilet where we had to queue (very long queue indeed). Very hot, crowded and the toilet room was so small. Imagine with my bag pack, where to hang my bag, hand bag...

After all that in-comforting situation, we managed to settle down in the bus 10mins before the bus departed. Fuhhh....

Photo inside our bus. Mcm dlm flightkan....? It was a double-decker bus, very convenient and brand new.

As expected, my journey to the east coast was disaster. Is it because I'm not used with the winding road of east highway or I'm just not as adventurous as before, only feel comfort in a car. I think the 2nd one is a strong reason however not because I'm pampered with a car journey but I used to drive a lot so when it come to be a passenger and someone drive for me, I just don't know what to do so all the dizziness, nausea started to hit me. (Banyakla ko punya alasan kan....). Since it was also a school holiday, the highway was quite congested and few times we stuck in a traffic jam. The bus had a break at Merapoh around 1/2 hr then continued the journey.

We reached Kota Bahru at 5am. The KB CENTRAL STATION was a very small bus station. Well when I heard central I thought it must be similar with Malacca Central. A bus terminal complete with main facilities (shops, toilet, surau, etc..). However, KB central was just a place with few cover benches to wait a bus and rented a car/taxi.

We was quite dumbstruck at first on what's would be our next plan. Luckily there were few people waited for the bus there (oh yes I wondered and amazed that KB town was not deserted at that time. In fact there were lots of people with family and that made me felt a bit secured.)

We went to sit at one of the benches and asked a lady nearby where is the nearest mosque (as we planned to perform Subuh prayer and took a bath there). There was one mosque nearby at Central Market Area so we went there.

Something that I don't dare to do it in KL, just 2 persons walked along the town at 5pm! However in Kelantan a Serambi Mekah as they called it, org tua, makcik2, kanak2, perempuan2 bertudung were all there that time so of course U won't expected anything danger around the corner.

Jalan Siti khadijah area at dawn...

...... and after a walk less than 2 mins I think, we reached at the mosque.... Solat, took a nap until 7.30pm.

We went outside and it was already bright. As the mosque located next to the CENTRAL MARKET (wet market), we could see all the hawkers already started their business and busy unloaded their sellings (meat, fish, fruits, vegetables and etc...) from lorry to their premises.

In front of MASJID AL-BAROAH, Pasar Siti Khadijah KB

I was at the heart of the town, Parkson Mall at my back, market on my left, McD and The Store on my right, Mydin next to The Store, bus station next to the Parkson, and so on..so on.... So U get what I mean right, all the places were located next to each other so it was quite easy for us to "tawaf" Kota Bahru later.

Starved... we had a breakfast at McD, KB. Luckily it was operated 24hrs

IM LOVING IT!!

Conventional guider but still practical. Our map and we already listed and marked the interesting places to visit at KB.

Electronic gadjet. While having our breakfirst, we re-located our location and find the nearest way to our Hotel.

Photo after breakfast

8.30am : We went to the public toilet nearby for bath and change cloth. We paid Rm1 for the toilet but it was not worth it as the toilet was dirty. If not because we were each uncomfortable with our's body odor, we won't bath there. Desperate and back packer as we called ourselves, so we just redah je la air2 yg berkarat itu.

9am : Ready to explore KB town but first we decided to find our hotel and put our bag there. X selesa nk berjalan2 dgn bag pack yg berat itu. We supposed to check in at 12pm. Luckily when we reached there, our room was ready for us so we just directly checked in.

About our Hotel, Rose Garden Inn, imagine I changed my plan on our accommodation one day before our departing day. Initial plan was to sleep at Zetty house. She insisted on letting us to sleep at her house however after deep consideration, we found that it was not nice to hassle the tuan rumah with our ittenary when on the same time they need to monitor and prepare for the wedding event. I "google"d and found few budget hotel nearer with KB town and Zetty house (luckily zetty house is not far from town) and only one guess house available. You may find the link HERE. It was school holiday so most of the hotels were full. Apparently, beside of the price was quite cheap (rm55/night for double bed room), we were impressed that the hotel was indeed very comfortable, clean and all the necessary facilities were provided. The owner is Malay and I really like it a lot. Located at Jalan Kebun Sultan, it was also nearer with the tourist attractions, malls and banks. Normally when we heard budget hotel, we don't put high expectation on it. However look at our room... Looks like a 3stars hotel right. What...? No...? Alamak malunya saya..

Lets take a look at my room....

The most important thing that I look into in every hotel that I've checked in, is it's toilet. It must not really looks sophisticated and luxury... as long as it is CLEAN that's fine with me. And this toilet, had pass my evaluation.

Lastly the bed, it was already called us... "come to sleep...come to sleep...". Cair beb...

Suddenly our plan changed!! What do u expected when we who were already like zombie saw a very comfy bed, cool temp... Sleep definitely came first! Lgpun still earlykan. Tido dulu la jawabnya!

So i think i will stop my writing here... Gonna continue in my experience meronda Kota Bahru town later. Till then see ya..!!!

Saba' With Family

Wow this year, my post mostly about "makan2" with family. Well since Uda came back to Malaysia after successfully completed her study at Medan (Alhamdulillah), we decided to make sure that we will gather and meet as frequent as possible. Have dinner, visit each other house or go for vacation. My family is not big, just four of us so we have to mantain our relationship and keep the bonding strong.

Back to my story, it was my turn to treat my family this time so I brought them to Saba' Restaurant. I don't think I have to write much about this restaurant as I know it's already famous and popular among KL/Selangor residences. However, since I am a sweet person, I gave U the link to read about Saba'HERE ok...

None of my family member been here before so this was a great idea to let them experience the taste of famous Arabic Nasi Beriani and others food available here.

I made a booking earlier since it was a Public Holiday (Labour Day) so I knew Saba' would definitely packed with people. Somemore tgh "bulan muda"... Mesti ade org yg nak treat or celebrate anythings...

As expected, Saba' was full once we reached there at 9pm. We needed to take an elevator to the 2nd floor where the air-conditioned hall provided to those who already reserved for big table. It was quiet here however comfy on the same time. Suitable for those who wanted to spent intimate time with family rather than at normal level which was hot and noisy.

I got this card for their reference on my order later. Every time when I added a new order, they will collect the card to update it on their system. So efficient.

Most of my family had a Roasted Chicken (quarter) with rice

While I went for Hanith Chicken (quarter) with rice

We also ordered the Barbican drink – an imported non-alcoholic malt beverage @ RM3 each. It comes in different flavors too like Pineapple, Lemon (best), Rasberry and Peach. If you are wondering, Barbican tastes like sparkling juice minus the over-sweetness.

This was our side order, Chicken Kebab

Family photos...

One happy family at home!

Time nak balik, hujan plak. Tutup kepala dulu...

Finished makan, paid then went home.
