Sydney, The Land of Oz - Grand Pacific Drive (Day 1)

Ok, before I start on my adventure, let me give a brief explanation on our road trip.

The route we took is known as Grand Pacific Drive. What is Grand Pacific Drive (GDP)?
Grand Pacific Drive encompasses some of the most spectacular scenery and coastline in New South Wales and Australia. Starting just 45 minutes south of Sydney at the entrance to the Royal National Park (world's second oldest), the 145km drive takes you through coastal rainforests, quaint seaside villages and traverses along the iconic 665 metre Sea Cliff Bridge. The Grand Pacific Drive then makes its way into the bustling city of Wollongong and through the beautiful coastal towns of Shellharbour and Kiama, passing rolling hills, wineries and dairy farms on the way to the Shoalhaven.
The drive ends in the spectacular Shoalhaven and from there you can experience the `beyond' to the Southern Highlands, greater South Coast and Canberra!

Summary
Start Point : Farnell Avenue, Loftus
Finish Point : Bolong Road, Bomaderry
Route Distance : 145km
Estimated Driving Time : 2 Hours 30 minutes (not including stops)

We didn't go down to the finishing point. Basically our route started from Sydney - Otford Lookout - Stanwell Park - Wollongong - Kiama. Honestly, 1 day was not enough to complete the GPD as the attractions from one town to another were so many and the views along the journey were really breathtaking so we took time in driving to enjoy the fantastic panorama.

So back to my last post in Ibis Hotel, the next day we woke up and had breakfast at the hotel.

View from our room. U can see that the airport is just next to our hotel.

Leaflets/mini phamplets at the hotel lobby

Baby Musa was still sleeping but ready for the trip!

Kayrie and me so energetic to start the day!

Waiting for the shuttle van. Faking a smile while inside our heart felt a bit worried as it was raining that morning. Hoping for the rain to stop.

After checked out, I called the East Coast Car rental for pick-up to their office. We waited at the lobby (almost 20mins) and finally the shuttle van arrived. Wow, we were quite impressed as the driver was a woman. Inside the van were other few customers also to the same destination like us.

Once arrived at their office, we settled the payment then had a quick briefing on the T&C and road laws in Australia by the East Coast Car Rental staff. It was a very quick and smooth process, then all we knew that we already directed to their workshop to collect our car.

Very excited and can't wait to start our journey. Before that it is very important to check the car condition (dents, scratches, fuel level, etc) and point out if those are not indicated as on paper. Another information, as per Australian's law it is illegal to put your baby on your lap while in the car. Babies, toddlers and children must be secured in a child safety seat so in our case, they provided a child seat installed at the back seat.

Our rented car : Nissan Almera

All the arrangements settled... then here we went, to Grand Pacific Drive.

Like I told you, baby musa had to put on his baby seat at the back so Lina also needed to sit at the back next to him. Ended up, me to act like bamalex partner 😜😜. Since I was the one who prepared the itinerary and familiar on the route, Lina asked me to be the navigator while Bamalex was our driver for all the way of our trip.

With map already printed (we didn't rent a GPS as we found that the route was quite straight forward 😜), then we started our journey with Bismillah....

To be continued....
