Sydney, The Land of Oz_The Journey (Day 0)

26 March 2014 – LCCT, Malaysia to Kingsford Smith, Terminal 1 Sydney.

One day before our departure, Kayrie and I gathered at Lina’s house after work. We had a lovely dinner (Steam fish, Omelette and mix vege) prepared by Lina & husband (Bamalex) then straight to bed since we needed to leave house to LCCT early in the morning. We started our journey that morning at 4.30am. Bamalex drove his car to his friend's house which at Nilai area. The friend of Bamalex then dropped us at LCCT and brought Bamalex car back to his house. We all on the other hand proceeded with check in and boarded into Flight D7220 to Kingsford Smith Airport (Terminal 1), Sydney at 9.10am.

Morning faces while having a breakfast at Old Town White Coffee, LCCT before boarding. The time when we went to Sydney, it was just 2 weeks after MH370 reported missing. So as a sign of concern and support, we bought and wore this "Pray for MH370" T-shirt.

Australia is a very big country, but nearly all Australians live in towns near the sea. 20% of the land mass is classified as desert. Had this view almost all the way of our journey. Imagine how big the desert is..

Enjoying the view and thinking, with huge deserted land like this what will happen if a person stranded alone there....

Nevertheless the view was just stunning and never failed to impress me. Subhanallah...

Alhamdulillah we finally landed at 8.20pm as schedule. We went through the immigration screening smoothly even I was selected randomly and instructed to open my luggage for details inspection. It was OK though.

Those who stay at the city can take the train.

Next we went to the Arrival Hall and called for taxi. Since we arrived here at night, we already booked a nearer hotel at Ibis Sydney Airport. We will pick up our rented car and started our journey only the next day.

The rain welcomed us to Sydney that night. The Ibis Hotel located just 5mins / approx 1.3km from the airport (one of the reason why we picked this hotel besides the price). The taxi charges was AUD18. Once we checked in and got into our room, we went out again to find food for dinner. Luckily McDonald's was only next to our hotel. For your info, there are Halal McDonald's and KFC in New South Wales. You may refer list of Halal restaurants HERE. Since this McDonald's branch was not in the list, we just bought fries and drinks. Enough to "line the stomach" until next morning. Not much activity to do though as everybody was still in jet leg. Outside was still raining. Watched TV and the news was still reporting about the missing MH370.

Then slowly we all went to bed and zzzzz...
