Seeking Siem Reap, Cambodia : Day 1 - Lunch Khmer Style

iv) Khmer Style Luncheon at Muslim Family Kitchen

This is one of the restaurant you must come during your visit to Siem Reap. Located in the town of Siem Reap, near Siem Reap Night Market, Pub-street and especially near Masjid An Neakmah. Also not very far from the Artisans Angkor about 3 mins by Tuk-Tuk.

Address : #069, Steung Thmei Village, Svaydangkum Commune, Siem Reap City, Cambodia.

Business Hours : 6:00AM until 9:00PM

The Muslim Cambodian Kitchen is a restaurant that provides Halal foods with full day meals; Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. Most of the customers are from Cambodian Muslim, Malaysian, Indonesian, Singaporean, Brunei, Saudi Arabia and lots more.

We were welcomed by these South East Asian country's flags on the counter. Most of the customers also from these countries.

We took our seats and ready to take order. We invited Kassim and his friend to lunch together but they declined politely. Their house was just nearby the restaurant, so they went back to lunch at their house while gave us some space to enjoy our lunch among ourselves.

Group photo before made our order.

On the menu were their famous classic Khmer foods and drinks.

Of course like I mentioned in the preparation post, Lembu Naik Bukit (Beef Climbing Mountain) is a must dish to try here. It was the signature in most of Champa Muslim restaurant here. This dish has been listed in the restaurant's signboard also.

So what exactly the Lembu Naik Bukit is all about?

It was basically a black peppered sliced beef cooked with vegetables and scramble eggs. Now about the "bukit (mountain)" name – it's actually the cooking grill which shape like a mountain in the middle.

They even demonstrated us how to cook this dish. You can see how the "mountain" grill looks like in below photos.

As we ordered 2 sets of this dish, 2 staffs brought the ingredients and cooked this dish at our table on the spot. Basically the ingredients are slices of beef with egg, vegetables and butter for frying. Owh there's also their special sauce for the taste.

First they melt the butter, then put in slices beef and egg. Next they put in the vegetables, mixed all together with the sauce.

Very fast one to prepare....

Tara...siap!!

Besides the "Lembu Naik Bukit", we also ordered "Fish in Morning Glory Pond" which is spicy, tangy and sweet. You may get the idea how the dish got it's name right. The morning glory bdw is one kind of vegetables, some people called it water spinach. The taste was good and I definitely recommended this dish also!!

Another star.

Omelette.

Don't forget to try Cambodian Ice Coffee also. I was like addicted to it. Very nice, especially during this hot weather!

Service was friendly, probably because we were tourists. Generally was a nice experience.
In term of price, it was average. Not too expensive yet not really cheap as well.
Briefly the price for Fish in Morning Glory Pond = USD6.50, Beef Climbing Mountain = USD7.50, Ommelete = USD 2.50 and Miss Yar ordered Khmer Spicy Soup at USD 4.50.
Convert to RM and divided by each of us, it was about RM20/person. Reasonablekan.....

We have most of our meals during our 3 days stay at this place. Besides it nearer with our Hostel, I just love the ambience - it's nice and warm here. The food also considerally delicious, fresh from kitchen! For internet savvy, the WIFI provided here is super fast! Toilet here is clean also. The best part, they have prayer room, that whenever you are in the middle of your travel from one place to other, you can stop by here, eat, pray and continue your journey. So to all Muslim travellers, do try here!

Once our stomach filled, it's time to check in to our Hostel and relax. Some more it was nearly 12pm where Kassim and his friends needed to go to the Mosque for Friday prayer. Generally the prayer time in Seam Reap is one hour earlier than Malaysia's prayer time.

So we back to our Tuk-Tuk and he sent us to Pub Street where was our Hostel located. Not very far though from the restaurant. From the Pub Street, just turn to one small alley to reach to our Hostel.

During this hot weather, COKE definitely looked very tempting and irresistible.

Finally we reached to our room. Initially we got this room which a 4 bed-dormitory. Quite comfortable with attached bathroom. You can see the power socket available on each bed. We had made an agreement with Kassim to pick up us back around 3pm to continue our tour.

But before that, who could resist this comfy looking bed... turned on the air-conditoner then gedebush..... landing my sexy fat ass on the bed. Quickly I fell asleep dreaming being Lara Croft, climbing and hanging on the wall at the Angkor Wat.....

Cop cepat2 katil no.4

Layan mimpi............ to be continued.
