Krabi Trip : Island Hopping

Phi Phi Island, Krabi
Sunday, 12th Nov 2012

Our second day at Krabi was one day trip to Phi Phi Island. This was the main agenda of our Krabi trip… a must do activity when you are in Krabi. There were lot of packages of Island Hopping and we selected the most popular one at RM90/900 baht from Barracudas Agency. This package includes boat, snorkeling, hotel transfer, lunch and covered 4 places : Bamboo Island, Viking Cave, Phi-Phi and Maya Bay! It's a package for Muslim so they served a Halal foods for us. Other packages include a visit to Chicken Island, Phranang Beach, Koh Poda, Tup Islets and many more! Maybe next time we will go for that. It's enough to cover the main attraction only for this trip!

As promised with the tour agent, we waited for the transport at Hotel lobby to pick up us. I glanced at my watch, we still had 1/2 an hour to the departure.

Since breakfast was not included in the room package, we made ourselves a hot MAGGI mee bought at 7E opposite our hotel. Remember I told you in my previous post, kettle was not provided so we needed to request the boil water at the kitchen!!

We had a walk along the street of our hotel while waited for our transport.

View from our hotel's lobby.

Our Hotel. Nama jer ade "resort" but don't expect ade challet, beach view bagai...

Note : Our hotel also served as a cafe/restaurant. That's why diaorg marah kot psal kitaorg x makan kat cafe diaorg. Sebaliknya selamba mintak air panas tp makan Maggi kat situ. Huhuhu..... Ape2 pun guest is always right kan..??

This is also called a tut-tut. A transportation if U wanted to tour the Krabi Town

Another type of tut-tut

We went back to our hotel's lobby but it's not only us who waited for the van. A few tourists (eh we also touristkan..) were also there but they went with other agents. A van came and picked them up one by one and left us with panicked. 15min past 9am and luckily our transport came. I didn't know to describe it as van or lorry... huhuhu. We quickly hopped into the van and joint the Farangs inside. The agent made a few stops afterward, picking up the others from the nearby hotels and guest houses along the way.

The van then arrived at Nopparat Thara Beach where we all gathered in group based on our destination and given a colour sticker each for ease of identification.

The farangs..

We then speed off to the beach where all the boats operator already waited.

Excited x hengat!!

It was low tide so we had to walk further to our boat

Finally to the boat

We got a speedboat and chose to sit in front of the boat. A short briefing was given before departing by our Island tour guide. It was a bumpy ride but fun on the same time.

There we go....................!!!!

1. BAMBOO ISLAND

Our first stop was the Koh Mah Phai, or the Bamboo Island. Quite a weird name as we didn't spot any bamboo here. We were allowed to swim and snorkel here with allocated time was about 1hr. All the snorkelling gears and life jackets were provided in the boat. You can use it for free just please don't lost it or else you will be charged RM50!!

Just taking photos, swimming & enjoying the nice view.

Such a picturesque..

Wonderful desert island with superb beach

The 1hr time given passed by... We back to our boat and proceed to next destination...
Approaching the Phi Phi Don!!

2. PHI PHI DON

We stopped at Phi Phi Don to have our lunch. It was buffet style and we were not the only group catered by the restaurant. As people come and go, the food were being replenished. Overall the foods were acceptable.

The view of the beach from our restaurant.

Next after lunch, we took a stroll outside. Wandered around, sight-seeing and took photos.

There's lots of shop selling souvenirs, clothes and etc. We didn't buy anything either. I didn't even brought any money though :D

It's nothing much to see at the shop lots so we settled down at the cafe located near the beach.

Other tourists probably from other's agent had their lunch at this cafe. I think this cafe was for the non-halal packages as I didn't see any Muslims ate here.

However who could resist a temptation of a cup of coffee

Had it for free... Savouring the taste while enjoying the scenic view of the ocean.
Such a laid back atmosphere.

My "scenic view".... Heheheheh. Syok menjamu mata tgk awek2 n pakwe2 sexy!

Typical scene at Phi Phi

Times up! We went back to our boat. Bid goodbye to Phi Phi Don... Such a beauty and pleasant island.

Our next spot was to Hin Klang for snorkelling!!

3. HIN KLANG

Hin Klang, Phi Phi’s No. 1 snorkelling reef in the open sea, where the most coral fish are to be found. Sadly both of us didn't bring the underwater camera and Jenot is not a "camera-girl" type so we didn't have any picture here. Nevertheless, we had a good time snorkelling and utilized all the 1/2hr given!

4. MONKEY BEACH

Next we went to Monkey Beach. Well-sheltered bay on Phi Phi home to all kinds of marine life and even some beach monkeys! Our boat didn't stop here. It just slower down the speed and passed through for sight-viewing. I was not interested on the monkey either, instead I was more interested to it's scenic beauty.

There were few boats passing by...

The crystal clear water. Such a view!

This boat stopped by to allow the passengers to take picture of the monkeys. Maybe they rarely see any monkeys in their county :D

5. PHI PHI LEH BAY

Our speedboat then brought us to Phi Phi Leh Bay. It's a hidden sea lagoon of outstanding beauty with high limestone cliffs on all sides. Here the boat stop for a while for us to capture the view as it was magnificently beautifull.

Our tour guide volunteered to take our photo

Lots of boat stopped here for a sight view.

I could see few peoples snorkeled here too. However this was not included in our package. I think price a bit higher if we requested to snorkel here.

Look at the turquoise water. A very breath-taking view!

Splendid!

6. VIKING CAVE

Our boat then continued it's journey to the Viking Cave. Like the Monkey Beach, the boat didn't stop here. Just passed by and taking photos only. The Viking Cave on Phi Phi Ley is a cave right at sea level filled with bird's nests. Painted on the walls are ancient color paintings resembling Viking boats hence the name Viking Cave. The inhabitants of Viking Cave create the most amazing feature. Thousands of swallows live on the top of 15metres high ledges to collect the bird's nest. Amazing!!

Layan je la gambar...

Lastly our final destination..................

Limestone cliff all over the sides..

View on the other side

And another side!

Approaching....

7. MAYA BAY

Maya Bay is a stunningly beautiful bay that's sheltered by 100-metre high cliffs on three sides. The beach is silky soft white sand, underwater colourful coral and fish live in exceptionally clear water.

Maya Bay has become the main tourist attraction of Phi Phi since 'The Beach' was filmed here (starred Leornado DiCaprio). It was always very popular before the film but now people around the world who haven't even heard of Phi Phi have certainly heard of Maya Bay. The popularity absolutely has taken it's toll on this place. It become so crowded with tourist and upcoming boats, otherwise it would be a serenely blissful place.

Ramai giler org kan?? X tenang nak amik gambar!

Classic beaches, stunning rock formations, and vivid turquoise waters teeming with colourful marine life - it's paradise perfected.

We found a track leading to the bushes and decided to explore.

8. LOH SAMAH BAY

The trail brought us to Loh Samah Bay, an inlet on the other side of the island.

From the signboard, we walked further a bit until we arrived at this wooden plank. Up the plank we were served with a view of Loh Samah Bay.

Jenot decided to go down the steep stairs to the awaiting blue water and had a swim. Indeed a few tourist also did that. Me on the other hand didn't dare to try. The water was quite deep and the waves also quite high.

Loh Samah Bay is a favourite spot for snorkelling. It has a clear, calm and shallow waters just off a small, quiet beach.

Stunning rite??

Jenot puas bermandi-manda (She told me the waves mmg betul2 kuat and dia pun x berani berenang jauh ke tengah!) so we went back to Maya Bay.

We went to other side of the island (dekat2 pinggir pulau) which to be a bit deserted.

Then back to the centre of the island which was so happening. Visitors kept coming and go. The weather was good. Very hot and dry unlike Malaysia where there's a bit of humidity.

Last picture taken before hopped back into the boat. It was already 4pm and we had completed our trip so we went back to Ao Nang.

Chicken island taken from distance on the way back using Jenot's camera. The rock's formation really resembles the feature of a chicken.

So that was it my fully trip for island hopping. Another sweet memory of remembrance! I will continue on next post. Still have one more night here. Till then, bye-bye uollss.
