Annyeonghaseyo Korea : Day 4 - Alpensia Pyeongchang Resort

iv) Dinner - Daegwallyeong Town

Next after spending almost half of the day at Everland Resort, we headed to Daegwallyeong-myeon, a myeon (township) in Pyeongchang County of Gangwon-do South Korea. It is located in the north eastern part of the county. The town is named after the important mountain pass of Daegwallyeong. It took almost 2.5hrs to reach there from Seoul and because of it's high location, the road up the hill was a bit winding. I just slept along the way and by the time I woke up, the bus stopped for dinner at one of the restaurant nearby the town before we reached our destination.

Tofu and cabbage kimchi.

Bean sprout, seaweeds and shredded squids.

Fried egg and vege.

Imagine, hot plain white rice then mix thoroughly with fried egg and black soy ketchup. Fuhhh... finger licking good right? This dish tasted almost the same!

Satisfied with the food.

As this area is quite far from the city and some more with it's highland location, the environment was quite different. Besides the extreme cold weather, it was quiet too. The toilet also was a bit "old-fashioned". I remembered when Nor wanted to go to the toilet, she was scared and asked me to accompany her as the toilet located at the back of the restaurant and a bit dark. Vincent laughed at her for being coward, but I do feel her. I would definitely do the same as the toilet and environment that time reminded me of the horror Korean movie. Siapa yg tak takut kan??

Nevertheless, no Ju-on or others ghost show up :=) Once finished dinner, we back to continue our journey.

v) Holiday Inn, Alpensia Pyeongchang Resort

The Alpensia Resort is a ski resort and a tourist attraction. It is located on the territory of the township of Daegwallyeong-myeon. There are purple ski shuttle buses to the resort 3 or 4 times a day.

In 2013, Alpensia Resort was one of the venues of the 2013 Special Olympics World Winter Games, and I think that was the reason why our tour agent included this resort in our itinerary. They wanted to introduce this place to the tourist, as most of the travel agent normally go to Mount Sorak rather than Alpensia. But for ski, Alpensia is definitely one of the best place to enjoy the activity.

There are three hotels available in this resort which are Intercontinental Hotel, Holiday Inn Suites and Holiday Inn Hotel, which where we were staying that night.

Address :
325, Solbong-ro, Daegwannyeong-myeon, Pyeongchang-gun, Gangwon-do

By the time we reached here, it was already 9.00pm. Really exhausted as we started our day since 6am in the morning.

Vincent arranged for check-in

Excited. Can't wait to get our room key.

What do we got here. Well, one queen size bed for both of us. Awesome!!!

So comfort. Sadly our stay was for one night only.

The tea/coffee making facilities checked. Toiletries checked. Satisfied!!!

Breakfast voucher for tomorrow!

Enough surveying and checking our room, we went to stroll around the hotel area. It was freaking cold outside!!

The Holiday Inn Suites

Among the restaurants / cafe available at the resort.

There was a beautifull and interesting park provided, however due to dark condition and we couldn't stand the coldness anymore, we moved back to our room. Cleaned ourselves and rest.

So this is the end of Day 4. Read next post for my itinerary on Day 5. Bye.
