Annyeonghaseyo Korea : Day 5 - The Hongdae Music Show Wedding

iv) Dinner at Mapo-Gu Town

We arrived at Seoul around 6pm. That night activity was to watch a theatre show. This show is very famous in Korea, but before I continue more on that, lets take a look what we had for dinner.

We had dinner at one of the restaurant nearby the Mapo-gu area so that we could just walk to the place of the show which also located around this place.

Our dinner was chicken porridge and as ussual a cabbage kimchi as a side dish.

Once our stomach filled, we started to walk to the theatre building while enjoying the night view of Mapo-Gu town in the same time.

v) The Hongdae Music Show Wedding Theatre

So what is it about the show that we were going to watch tonight?

Introduction
The Hongdae Music Show Wedding Theatre which used to be the Hongdae Nanta Theatre opened on September 9, 2013 in Hongdae. Music Show Wedding is a show that combines live music, acting, and performances. The show features 23 musical instruments and a striking stage lit with 30,000 LED lights.

The synopsis is such – there is a wedding taking place and all is happy about it. Except the bride’s father. Of course. And thus musical hilarity ensues.

There is also another theatre show that is very famous in Korea before this Wedding Show called NANTA. Similar like the Wedding Show, Nanta is also nonverbal (or limited verbal) musical show but involves kitchen utensils, food (onion, cucumber, carrot, melon, cabbage), drumming, gymnastics, knife skills, martial arts, magic, slapstick humour, singing and harmonizing, dancing (plus a little Gangnam style), audience participation, and all-around entertainment for people of all ages. If Wedding show is set around the wedding preparation, Nanta is set in a kitchen of the Nanta restaurant where the chefs have just been told they have only an hour to prepare a ten-course wedding banquet!

We went down the building

Finally the show started and we went in.

We managed to secure the best seats! Thanks to our agent. As no camera was allowed inside so no photo I could share. Sorry uolss :=(

My predict. The show was perfect. Not the way I expected it would be but in a good way.

These performers are absolutely amazingly talented. Multi-talented. They play multiple instruments, they sing, they dance, they act, and on top of all that, they’re hilarious. This show also has a lot of songs integrated into it that you will recognize like English, Korean, Japanese and Chinese. The humour goes beyond the usual slapstick since they do use more dialogue to a certain extent that you don’t need Korean to really understand it.

It’s not really something that I can really say except… Go watch it!

So if you’re in Seoul and you have a hankering to watch a show while you’re here, one that you don’t even need to know Korean to understand and enjoy.... I highly recommend Music Show Wedding Theatre!

vi) Night at Best Western Premier Guro Hotel, Seoul

Right after theatre, we back to check in at Best Western Premier Guro Hotel, Seoul, the same hotel we stayed on our first day in Seoul.

Let's take a look at our room.

A very comfort room.

2 single beds awaited for us!

Complimentary from hotel

A clean and sophisticated shower. However we didn't managed to fully utilize it due to limited time we had here

We just spent our night at the hotel as tomorrow would be our last day. Read my next post on our last xtvt at Seoul. Till then. Salam....
