Pesta Malam Indonesia - 20 June 09

It has been always an adhoc plan. One day before the concert, my friend Lina called and asked whether I would like to watch the concert or not. It's not like I don't want to go. Infact at the very first time when I heard the commercial I was so attracted, only the financial matter that hold me down. You know, held on the 3rd week of the month where what the "employee" always called as "bulan kering", RM60 looked like a very lucrative amount that needs to be wisely spend. However Lina was very desperate instead she also offered to lend me money to buy the ticket as long as I go. Well money really didn't give a matter to her, she just needs a company. Then she also asked me to invite more friends (utk memeriahkan suasana katanya) but only my sister, Aishah who was interested and confirmed to go.

So here it was, Saturday around 2pm Lina picked us at home and three of us went to the Bukit Jalil, parking A (the concert venue) by car. We expected there would be a traffic jam and we might find a difficulty to find a parking, however on the contrary the parking lot was so deserted. The concert area was so empty like there was no event happened there. If it's not beause of the huge stage with banner "Pesta Malam Indonesia 3", I would think that we were at the wrong place or maybe wrong date also.

Stage at my back...

Still x ramai org lagi kan....??

Main sponsor.. TM

The area was so spacious. There were lots of booth selling foods and drinks, booth for the fanclub and sponsors.

A little bit about Pesta Malam Indonesia 3, it was held yearly since 2006. On the line-up were music heavyweights like Padi, Sheila on 7, Andra & The Backbone, Gigi and Dewa. 7hours non stop performance as our favorite Indonesian acts came invading our town! How was that sound. cool ha!

OMG I loved this... we took lots of photo before the concert started!

At BALA-DEWA booth, Lina wanted to buy a displayed banner however it was already sold out!

Lastly Lina bought this one. Kami tumpang guna as a props..

The first performance started right after Asar prayer by the local band AKU. Still not much people watching and most of the people sat at the shaded area since the weather was still hot (maybe because this group is still new, not much of the songs were familiar yet).

After delivered about 3 songs, the stage was taken by Jimbara which was also a LOCAL band. This time people already jostled nearer the stage and the audiences getting more excited and followed together when the vocalist sang their hits "Kasihnya Laila".

The awaited moment, performance from the first band from Indonesia started around 5.30pm, announced by the MC of the day Keeran and Anne from Hot AF!!

Can you guess who was the first performer??

It was PADI who made the opening with the spectacular performance. This photo was taken just for Lina... FADLI I LOVE YOU!!! (Lina dah menjerit tanpa segan silu). Makan hati beb.....

PADI in action

We all were so excited and almost forgot all the heat and packed of the surrounding taht time. 2 hours standing gave no effect to us as right after PADI, it was Andra and the Backbones turn to rock on the stage and when they sang their hits SEMPURNA, all the crowds echoed to follow the song. Well both of the group did rocked!! SOBAT PADI & Backboners definitely will be satisfied!

ANDRA & The Backbones took stage. Awesome...

Andra was actually from Dewa but collaborate with The backbones to experiment with another genre of music which is different from the one with Dewa.

One thing that made me respected to the organizer was their sensitivity towards a Muslim country. We had a few breaks to respect Muslim prayers so takde la time Azan berkumandang, org terkinja2 dgr konsert. We used that break time to buy drinks (well I tell U it' was very hot there) and to relax our feet... seems like it's not just our throat yg thirsty, our feet felt the same too.

See lepak2 dah sama mcm pendatang jugak...

Aiks.. Lina dah dpt member baru! Dr siang....

Membawa ke malam...

Apparently a Malaysian’s most feared object at an Indonesian rock concert is the crowd of excited and unruly Indonesian fans! It is uncanny but not groundbreaking that Malaysians share this sentiment. Indonesian concert fans have somewhat earned a notorious reputation amongst Malaysians who have witnessed them at their worst at gigs. They look and act kampungan, if I may be so frank. On the other hand however, people have every right to be annoyed, not just at the boisterous Indonesians specifically, but at anyone who’s selfish enough to cause so much grief for other concert watchers by blocking their view with banners and dangerously assembled human pyramids. People don't come to concerts to see your backsides, you morons. I did feel like to throw my shoes to their head but let them act that way, for the civilized people like me, I can control my own attitude. But this was not for all Indonesian, it just a few groups that look like a heavy metal iconic who like to create an attention so that they could promote their ideologue (that's what I'm thinking la...)

Ok back to concert. Right after solat maghrib, the stage's setting had change completely. More lighting since its already dark. The weather getting cooler but we were getting hotter. Its a Sheila On 7 turns to perform.

Duta nie sangat2 aktif, berlari sana-sini. Penat nak fokus camera shoot gambar dia.

Very energetic performance.

What I like about this group was their selected songs were really friendly so most of it familiar to us, but probably not for the Indonesian. The heavy metal group that I mentioned earlier began to create a chaos. But it died down as quickly as it started without any incident thanks to the security guard who consistently monitored the audience behavior and the band itself who kept advising (secara lembut lagi tersusun) supaya all the Indonesian behave themselves and menjaga tingkah laku. Bravo Sheila Gang!!!!

OMG, I like this. So sweeeetttt............

Then after about 15 mins break, GIGI started their outstanding performance.

Same like DUTA SO7, Armand the GIGI vocalist was also very energetic with no sign of become "pancit". Consider by his age which nearly 40s, mmg respect habis la kat dia. His voice and performance no need to mention la.. never failed to entertain us. One thing that maybe our artist can take as an example was their way to control the crowds. There was one funny incident (actually its just a normal thing) happened in the middle of Gigi performance. Thomas (the guitarist) urgently needed to go to the toilet, so they needed to hold the show. During this time Armand fill the time with communicating with us, but all the talks he made were so meaningfull, logic and yet interesting. That's what we called a performer. From my observation, most of these bands had show a high knowledge and awareness regarding the world issues and indeed expressed it in their performance.Well done!

Gaya seorang pro.

Lastly yg ditunggu2.... Dewa pula memeriahkan suasana but before that we're entertained by performance of Group Lucky Laki (sons of Ahmad Dewa) with 3 songs.

All the BALADEWA sudah x sabar2 menantikan kemunculan mereka, and there was no surprise to see that they got the most louder applause from the crowds.

Bringing series of hit songs like Sedang Ingin Bercinta, Perempuan Paling Cantik, Meniskus Cinta their performance somehow felt like the shortest among the other bands. Its hard to believe when they announced their last song because all of us still "belum puas" yet. Nevertheless since it was the last song, all the audience pulun habis2 nyanyi lagu Arjuna as a closing....

Can you believe it? After whole this day, after numerous photo that I had took, it so happened in Dewa performances, my battery leh kong. Infact totally out!! I managed to take only 1 photo. Itu pun ganba Once je. Sedih....sedih! That's why I don't have any photo on Dewa performed. :(

Last photo taken... Hot, flatted, sweaty but full with satisfaction!!

Concert finished around 11.00pm then we straight away went home.
