Trip Young & Dangerous (HK, Macau & Shenzhen) : Day 5 - Disneyland Wonder

i) Disneyland Park & Resorts

This was one of the main reason I traveled to Hong Kong and I bet, most of the others too! Mind you, this post is going to be long & heavy on photos, but please ENJOY!

Hong Kong Disneyland opened in 2005 and is the city’s largest theme park, but the smallest Disney park in the world. Its size though is part of its charm with lower capacity limits and usually shorter lines. Cast members speak English, Cantonese and Mandarin. Like other Disney parks, they are incredibly friendly and hand out stickers for the kids to collect. The park was designed to adhere to principles of feng shui, incorporate Chinese culture throughout and is built on reclaimed land in Penny’s Bay on Lantau Island.

A lot of people refer to Disneyland as the happiest place on earth, and yes for almost 8 hours in my life I did feel like I was in that state. I am pretty happy most of the times, but maybe it was me missing being a child, and the fact that I was there made the feeling even more! I always dream to be in enchanted or magical world.. and that's why Disney movies are always my favourite. I love the songs, the characters on the movie, everything on it... The world with always end with "and they lived happily ever after".. Sounds great eh!

So that was it. Our 5th day at Hong Kong was about to make my childhood dream come true. As we would spent full day there, we went out from hostel quite late around 10am after light breakfast as ussual.

Direction to Disneyland :

The easiest and cheapest way to get here is by MRT.
Take MTR line to Sunny Bay Station (Tung Chung Line). At Sunny Bay, switch to the Disney Resort Line which only one station. It’s a very easy ride that takes about 20 minutes.
*Those from Central can directly take Tung Chung Line from Hong Kong Station, while since we were from TST, we took Tsuan Wan Line from TST to Lai King. Interchange Tung Chung Line to Sunny Bay, then interchange Disney Resort Line to DisneyLand.

It takes about 23 minutes from HK International Airport, 30 minutes from MTR Kowloon Station and 33 minutes from MTR Hong Kong Station. The MTR line operates from Sunny Bay from 06:15 - 00:45, from the Resort Station from 06:20 - 00:40. The frequency is about 4-10 minutes.

Train ride from TST to Sunny Bay was ussual.... until we boarded Disney train, then the atmosphere started to change. It was like going into the Hogward Train at Platform 9 1/4 where everything seems so magical. Disney songs were on air and everyone regardless of ages, share the same excitement along the journey to Disneyland.

Not often that I ride a train this cute.

Here and there we saw children with a very cute dress, like a princess.

Apart from the windows, the handle bars are made in the shape of Mickey’s head too!

Cute isn't it?

The coach looks luxury unlike normal train that we usually boarded.

There are also glass capsules containing bronze sculptures of Disney characters on display within the carriages.

Chip & Dale dancing in the glass.

We finally reached to our destination. Even the station is different, it is also designed with Disney theme.

Finally reached the Disney Station.

Went up the stair to exit the station.

Disney MTR Station from the outside view.

Mandatory shot of the entrance sign! Owh I started to get excited!!

"We take ur photo, U take mine session"

Close Up.

From the entrance headinng to the 2nd gate is quite a walk.

Lamp posts with photos of numerous Disney's characters.

The iconic fountain with mickey surfing on top of it at the centre of the park to the 2nd gate.

Duffy seems to enjoy the surfing too..!!

Took photo while not many people around.

We have purposely arranged our Disney Trip on weekdays to avoid the crowds and our decision was totally right!! There were not so much visitors during our visit or at least the line on the ticketing counter was not very long where we proceed to purchase our tickets easily. We were totally chill (and probably the chillest among the HK travel) so instead of rushing in, we spent some time taking photos here and there near the main gates... such tourists.

Park Opening Hours :
10:30 to 20:30
The firework Show : 21:00 at the Sleeping Beauty Castle
Flights of Fantasy Parade : 15:00
Festival of the Lion King : 12:00, 14:00, 16:30 and 18:00
"Disney Paint the Night" Nighttime Spectacular : 19:45.

Notice: Park opening hours and entertainment performance times might be adjusted without prior notice.

Ticket Fees :
Adult (Aged 12-64) - HK$589
Children (Aged 3-11) - HK$419
Senior (Aged 65 and above) - HK$100
Children under 3 - Free

You may wonder, how many entrance we had to pass to really get into the park. It was three..!!!

This is 2nd gate to the ticketing area.

Ticket counter quite empty. Probably most of the visitors had purchase the ticket earlier either from the hotels or tour agencies which you could get much cheaper compared to the walk-in tickets.

Ticket shot!

Oh I almost forget to tell you. NO SELFIE STICK IS ALLOWED HERE for safety reasons, unless you’re good at hiding it you can tho.

Finally this is the main entrance!

Already approached early Nov, the weather turned rapidly compared to our 1st day arrived at Hong Kong. It was a bit cold and windy. Nevertheless, its good for our trip compared to hot and dry weather so we didn't complaint either.

The first thing you’re going to see once entering the gate is this ginormous Mickey icon shaped from various flowers. Picture time.

So we started our tour and to be continued in next post!
