Mabuhay Boracay : Day 2 - Strolling Around White Beach

Continued from previous post, back from the Zipline place, we returned the ATV and the guide took us back to the main road. It was almost 2pm, everybody were starving so we went back to the restaurant we had on the previous night, Jannah Halal Restaurant. After lunch we walked back to our house and relax for a while before continued our next activity in the evening.

iv) An Evening in White Beach

A trip to Boracay is never complete without visiting the famed White Beach. The 3.5 kilometers long White Beach is the main tourism beach in Boracay and the reason why 1.5 million tourists flocked to the island every year.

I had set in our itinerary that the last evening in our trip to stroll along this beach, and for that reason around 4.00pm, we went out again and walked to the White Beach.

But before that, we had a nice and delicious fruitshakes at Jonah's Cafe.

I had a pineapple milk @ PHP75. Yummy!!

Did I told ya that Fruitshake is one of the things that you should try when in Boracay. There are lots of shop selling it and the most famous one is Jonah's Cafe which have few outlets around Boracay Island. The one that we had right now located at the main road. The price varies around PHP 80-100.

Each with different flavour of fruitshakes.

Once freshen up with the tasty and cold drinks, we crossed the main road to the White Beach!
And look..... we'd been welcomed with these majestic views.

If you want something romantic or fun, a must try is Paraw Sailing during sunset. It's a lovely experience for just PHP 150.00/person.

We didn't try the Paraw Sailing that time as the weather was not very good, the sea was rough so it's kindda not worth it to spent the money where we couldn't enjoyed it fully.

Small boats, paraws and speed boats lined up along the shores of the White Beach.

More paraws / sail boats.

The White Beach is stunning - powdery white sand and shaded by palm trees. Surrounded by crystal clear blue waters, it has long been a magnet for visitors seeking paradise.

Time for selfie.

And group photo. Happy eh!!

Kayrie, Lina & Emmer Musa in action!

Boracay's white beach is just 3.5 kilometers long and can be reach within an hour from end to end (Station 1 to 3) by foot. The perfect time to walk is around 4:30pm onwards.
We started our walk from Station 2, to the northernmost of the island where Station 1 located.

Children playing happily on the beach.

We are happy strolling along the beach..

The powdery white sand makes it perfectly ideal for building unique and impressive sandcastles. Children will enjoy their day in the sunshine and building sandcastles on the beach. Throughout the day, you will see local children building amazing sandcastles along the beach. You can take picture with any of the sandcastles that you found along the beach. However, the children will expect a tip after you have taken a picture with their sandcastles. So, remember to pay after you have taken a picture with it. After all, the sandcastles are their hard work.

Google photo. I was too cheapskate to spent my money to take photo at the sandcastle. :D

The sandcastle from distance. :D

The White Beach is lined with coconut trees and business establishments on one side and the sparkling blue water on the other.

Every evening, hundreds and thousands of people, both locals and tourists flock and gather at the beach.:D

Jonah's Fruitshake at White Beach.:D

Station 1’s Willy Rock

At the northern end of Station 1, you will find the iconic Willy's Rock, an odd-shaped volcanic formation located directly in front of Willy's Beach Resort.

Named after the owner of Willy's Beach Resort, Mr Tay Willy M. Gelito, the Willy's Rock is one of the most recognizable landmark in Boracay. On top of the rock, there is a statue of Virgin Mary. A man-made stairs is available for those who wish to make their way up to the top of the rock.

Willy's Rock at my back.:D

I just look at the Willy's Rock from distance and didn't go nearer there as I didn't want to get my pants wet. :D

Kayrie got nearer shot of the Willy's Rock. :D

Boracay is well-known for its spectacular sunset. The sun set around 6.00 pm all year round and this is also when the beach is the most crowded because this is a fantastic spot to catch a sunset.

Boracay' sunset is a spectacle that you shouldn't missed.:D

As the sun began to disappear beyond the horizon, I quickly took out my camera to capture that beautiful moment. The silhouettes have added beauty and great perspective to the sunset photos.
Bdw, all photos taken by my SJCAM. My phone was already dead that time.

Beautifull sunset as background.

As I strolled down the beach, it was not hard to notice that the waters were colored green. The green waters were the result of a bloom of green slimy algae.

The weather in Boracay is hot and humid, but windy. Spending a long period of time in the sun will lead to sunburn and dehydration. So, please remember to apply a generous amount of sunscreen on your skin and drink plenty of water while in the sun.

I really enjoyed strolling along the beach, listening to the waves crash against the sand, the warmth of the sun and just gaze out at the endless blue sea.

Walking through the Station 1, it was a little less crowded and much more quieter and relaxed, away from the hustle and bustle of night life in Station 2. The sand in Station 1 were also whiter, more powdery and softer than the two other Stations, which was a delight to walk on. This is where you will find the whitest and softest sand in the 3.5 kilometer long White Beach.

True enough, the island has white powdery sand and the water surrounding it was crystal clear. It was stunningly beautiful.

Almost all the upscale hotels and resorts offer sun loungers for use during the day. Strolling down, you will notice that the entire stretch of beach is lined with hotels' sun loungers and umbrellas, complimentary and for the exclusive use of hotel guests.

Hotels' sun lounger provided along the beach.

One can enjoy relaxing on a beach lounger under the shade of an umbrella and palm trees while time drifts away. Alternatively, you may also put your own towel or beach mat down on the sands, lie down and just soak up some sun.

Other than relaxing on a beach lounger, there were plenty of other things to do at the beach. You can spend your day at the beach swimming, snorkeling, kayaking or enjoy a drink at a nearby cafe.

Went down back to station 2.

Sexy photobomb.

Spectacular sight. Photo courtesy from Kayrie's phone.

It almost dark, the white beach suddenly changed completely. Lights illuminated the entire beach and loud musics started to be played by all the bars along the beach.

Mabuhay Boracay : Day 2 - Zipline (U fly, I fly.. Superman in the Sky)

iii) Fairways, Bluewater & Happy Planet Zipline

I left you guessing in previous post either we proceeded with the Zipline or not. Well the answer is YES. We next rode the ATV to the Zipline place after visited Mount Luho. Honestly I was still undecided either to try it or not, but since Fairul and Bamalex encouraged us to do it, I just followed to survey the place and see how people did it first before made my decision.

Went down the hill to the Zipline place.

Arrived at the Fairways, Bluewater & Happy Planet Zipline.

Keep Calm..?? Jantung dah berdetak spt genderang yg mahu perang time nie...

Ok a bit about Zipline, it is a cable attached at two points which uses gravity to propel you from one end to the other. Typically a ziplines speed ranges between 30 and 60 miles per hour (almost 100 KMPH!).

The Fairways & Bluewater Newcoast Boracay is one of the luxury resort in Boracay with private beach coves, accommodations and a golf course. The Zipline here is about 600m and it is the longest and highest Zipline in Boracay. Wow!! The cost for Zipline is PHP1000/pax.

The resort's view from the Zipline platform.

I was trying to calm and reduced my fast beating heart by enjoying the view.

The beach.

We sat there at the platform seeing one by one couple or even single did the zipline, then the staff there asked to our group either we were ready tor take the challenge or not. Guess who the first to accept this challenge??

Of course the one who encouraged us to do this... Fairul. Fizah who probably been motivated by her husband, looked confident also. Maybe nak cover semalam challenge cliff jumping x buat :P

Bamalex menyusul, but he did it alone since Lina needed to take care of the children.

They were strapped on in this huge canvas sack before letting their feet off the floor, hanged in the air with the clips from the canvas sack attached to the rope.

Floating in the air like a superman.

Better to take out your slippers to avoid it from fell down from your feet during the Zipline. As you can see here, the guide attached their slippers together to the clips so that it will also "fly" with them.

About to go...

Before "letting go"... you will need to hold the metal pole so that you will facing frontward.

After the above ready.... then off they zoomed accross the golf course!!
So what about us...????

Amik gambar aje ke...??

I was almost surrender if not because seeing an Ahjuma (grandnanny) with her grandson also dared to attempt this activity. Yes, I felt really challenged. If the old lady could do it, how could I... the younger one freak out. She was like our bench mark. No excuse to avoid anymore. At least like Lina could give reason to take care the kids. Hehehehhee.....

I eventually plucked up my courage and took the challenge.

Honestly, if Miss Yar & Kayrie didn't join, I probably also quit. Luckily we got through this together. Ceh drama!!

Motif kau nak berpegangan tangan ngan Miss Yar??

Then off... we zoomed with such a high speed!! I really felt like flying!! Of course speeding down towards the beach on the zipline is really quite exciting at these high speeds. It wasn't scary as I thought it would be. There's no heart-dropping-moments like on a roller-coaster or bungee jump or skydive. I mainly screamed a little at the start just for fun, but soon got tired and just enjoyed the view.

As I did the zipline, there was no one taking our photo. It's only when we finished the zipline I remembered of my SJCAM camera, why I didn't bring it together and record our activity. That was one of the purpose I bought it, to record the outdoor/extreme activity. However I made the decision to do zipline so last minute and I was nervous that time. My mind only focused on the activity so I don't think even if I remembered, either I could hold the camera with my trembling hand during that time or not.

Reached the end, we had to climb about 3-4 stories worth of stairs to take this cable car back.

Coming back via cable car. Screenshot from video.

Photo taken by Lina.

Arrived safe and sound.

Chaiyok to Lina also who looked into the children, been our supporter and photographer.

We completed our ATV programme today with the Zipline. Even I was reluctant at first, it was always a first time for something right? (And thanks for grandnanny that indirectly motivated us to do this. You were our mentor!) You don't try, you don't know you capability or either that thing is fun or not. And from now on, I could brag to anyone that I've tried Zipline. Heheheh...

All I can say is... try it yourself and never forget the rush!

Mabuhay Boracay : Day 2 - ATV to Mount Luho

Today is the last full day in Boracay! Make full used of it!

Sadly the mother nature again almost spoilt our plan as it was raining that morning.. however probably god had heard our pray, the rain stopped just in time when we finished our breakfast and ready for another adventure. So without wasted any time we walked out from our house.

At the bottom of the hill, near the beach where we normally waited for Tuk-Tuk to bring us to the main road / White Beach.

There were only 2 Tuk-Tuks available that time, so we let Lina & Fizah with family to take it first. The single ladies (Kayrie, Miss Yar and Me) decided to just walk to the main road.

Having an experience travel by Tuk-Tuk numerous time from Bulabog Beach to White Beach, we already understand a little bit on the area here so we knew which way to use to get to the main road. If you refer map below,  there is one way (Bulabog Road) connected Bulabog to the Main Road, so basically we used that one.

Because of the rain early in the morning, the street was flooded in some area. But we really enjoyed the walk as we could get closer with the locals. There was time when a car or small lorry passed by, the water splashed at us and made us wet. Damn!!

The street (small alley) connecting Bulabog Beach to White Beach. Puddles were here and there along the way due to the rain that morning.

Just go straight and you will reach the junction at the main road. There were houses and shops on both sides along this street.

Despite of the flood waited ahead that we had to pass through, Miss Yar could still put on a big smile.

Gigih merentas banjir.

Finally we reached to the end of the street, means we already at the main road. Just cross the main road to get to the White Beach.

i) ATV / Buggy ride

So for the 1st activity today, we decided to do the ATV. Like I mentioned numerous time in previous post, to get the package was not difficult. We just went to the Station 2 and boom... we been surrounded like celebrities by the tour agents to promote their services. We then settled down with one of the agent with a package deal of ATV to Mount Luho at PHP750/person while Zipline we kept in view first.

The guide took us inside the van which brought us to where our starting point for the activity was.

Our van to ATV / Buggy Centre.

Excited... x sabar!

Before we got to ride the ATVs, we were briefed for about 20 minutes on the rules, what we were supposed to do and also the route we will use to Mount Luho.

Map to Mount Luho. As U can see here, Mount Luho is located at the Brgy Bulabog.

Gathered up for the briefing.

After finished with the briefing, it's time to choose our bike. Yeay!!

For couple, Lina & Fizah chose buggy car which could carry 2 people

Single lady, harusla amik ATV.

We then did a few warm up rounds so we could familiarize ourselves on how to use the ATVs. We were taught to accelerate when going uphill then let go when going downhill. It was pretty easy since it does not require clutching, changing gear or what so ever. We just have to control the acceleration on the handle and the break.

Miss Yar posing ala majalah mangga.

Getting ready to move. Owh sorry, Lina masih memanjat kt belakang. Photobomb la plak.

Ok now we were ready.

After the warm up, we then set off. We convoyed in a single line going uphill then downhill with a lot of turns and it was much of fun! I took the lead, but we were actually been escorted by the tour guides. There were 2 guides in a buggy car infront of us which we followed and I also asked one of the guide to take video along our journey there, the other one guide covered us at the back.

We really enjoyed riding past Boracay's countryside and small farms, met the locals with such a breathtaking views.... the only thing is… it would be better if we could race and speed. Hahahahahhaha!

Screenshots from video taken by the guide.

ii) Mount Luho View Point

About 20 mins we then reached our destination at Mount Luho. A bit about Mount Luho, it is a Boracay’s highest peak. Though it is called as such, it is not difficult to climb up to the small open deck where you can get a 360 degrees panoramic view of the island. Mount Luho is definitely a must "visit" place once you're in Boracay.

Arrived.

One more "I took your photo better than you took mine", so I posted Kayrie photo instead of mine.

There were a few flight of stairs to climb before we could reach the top. It was an easy climb (about 2 flight of stairs) before arriving at the observation tower.

Once again, Lina photobomb menonggek kt belakang.

Before going up the observation tower, there's an aviary where they have caged birds, an eagle, a monkey and a huge fruit bat. Not so interesting tho.

Took photo with an owl and errr... dead snake.

We reached to the lookout point. There were up to 3 lookouts and we went to the highest of the three. Truly indeed, the view was so amazing.

Photo each of us except Miss Yar.

The views from the top were pretty good and it gave us great insight into the island, size and layout.

Despite that the picture looks chill and gloomy, it was actually so hot at the top platform which made me sweat badly.

Nevertheless, panas, panas juga... tp bergambar tetap tak ingat dunia.

As ussual, any trip that involved teacher Kayrie, she will never forgot to bring a Malaysian flag. So the same with this trip.

Group photo with Jalur Gemilang. Daniel dah pandai buat thumbs up tanda bagussss....hasil hasutan Aunty Lina.

There was a photographing service up there if you wish to have a photo taken by the professional photographer. The charge was about PHP 100/printed photo so I took 2 photos (1 single photo and 1 group photo). Besides that, I also asked them to take our group photo using my own camera phone.

I enjoyed the view of the island at Mt. Luho overlooking :)

Photo taken by the professional photographer using my phone. I remember she stand on the chair to get this overall view. Nice huh!

One more group photo taken by professional.

Solo pose with Jalur Gemilang.

Another side.

On the observation tower, we were able to view the entire Boracay! The island itself is not very big so we were able to see everything!

Solo pose at another platform. Some of the platforms were made from metals and not very stable.

These were 2 photos that I bought from the photo service.

Had enough of camwhoring at the lookout platform (as I bet you had it enough too looking at my numerous photo I posted it here) so we went down back the stairs.

Group photo before bid goodbye to Mount Luho.

One more.

So that was it, our ATV ride to Mount Luho. It was totally worth the time and deal simply because of it's stunning view of whole of Boracay Island. And for anyone who wants adventure in Boracay then I strongly suggest you try this one!

Nice view of the sea taken on the way of our journey to Mount Luho.

So we drove our ATV back down the hill to the ATV centre. However along the way, we passed by the Zipline place at Bluewater resort. Just looking at the hanging cable and the "swishing" sound when the zipline took flight already made my adrenaline rush. I had told you in earlier post that we kept this activity on hold, undecided either to try or not. So what do you think? Did we proceed to try the zipline? Keep on guessing as I will reveal it in next post ok.
