Penang Gurney Drive - Night Day 1

We went out for dinner at Gurney Drive. Gurney Drive, otherwise known as Persiaran Gurney, is perhaps one of the most well-known places in Penang. Often referred to as ‘The New Esplanade’ (to differentiate it from the original Esplanade in Georgetown), Gurney Drive is a deluge of hawker delights and exciting restaurants that come alive at nighttime, giving the unique experience of dining by the sea.

The traffic was a bit congested that night. We toured the area twice but all the car parks were full.

Finally we settled down at Gurney Plaza.

One of the popular and convenient eating places in Gurney Drive is at the Gurney Drive Hawker Center beside the roundabout. This place mostly patronized by tourist and also by the locals offers variety of Penang hawker food.

Initially, we didn't see the Malay stalls. There were only Chinese hawkers available so we kindda upset and back to the Gurney Plaza as we thought no muslim foods there. Somemore, we all already starved luckily we met one lady and she advised us to went deeper into the centre of that area. And guess what, rupanya malay stall terperosok dalam skit dr chinese stall tu. Walla... dgn gembiranya we started to survey all the stall.

Char-koew-Tiow and Rojak/Pasembor is a must try when u come here! Heaven of foods... That is Penang!!

Next after dinner,we went to walk along the seafront. Seeing people hang-outs with family while enjoying the night sea breeze as well.

Street hawkers

Normal scenario not only in Penang, but in whole Malaysia!!

The arch of waves and doves at the roundabout...

This is how Penangites spent their weekend night...

We also been entertained by a dancing performance here (of course with some donation). Frankly I think I can do much better than her... She just waving the scarf and did some turning while her partner played the violin :D However I still salute them for their effort and creativity to earn some living.. Well, takkan nak suruh minah tu buat somersault pulak kan... :P

Bazaar Batu Feringgi (Night Market)

The nightlife in Batu Feringghi is centered on its 'Bazaar' or night market. Open from dusk until late, often past midnight, the night market is a sidewalk bazaar of makeshift stalls operated by local traders, selling an assortment of goods ranging from souvenirs to fake goods. Next after jalan2 at Gurney Drive, we headed there.

Lina looks lost with lots and lots of thing to buy.

From clothes to souvenirs, foods, electrical devices, all accessories are among the items that were sold here. Look at this. So colourfull...

I shopped quite a lots here especially souvenirs for family and friends. It's already pass midnight so most of the stall started to wrap and closed. Once finished with our shopping, we went back to our homestay.

At Baan Talay, last thing I did was made a drink before went to bed!

Finally, good night! Saya tutup pintu dulu yer and to be continued of course....
