MALAYSIA A NEW CHAPTER

I would like to congrat Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, who is today officially become Malaysia’s sixth prime minister, taking over from Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi who stepped down after leading the country for over five years.

Datuk Seri Najib took his oath of office before Yang di Pertuan Agong Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin at Istana Negara and signed his letter of appointment as Prime Minister.
It such a historic event as it's also witnessed the presence of former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and his wife, Tun Dr Siti Hasmah Mohd Ali. At the same ceremony, Datuk Seri Abdullah was conferred the nation’s highest award, the Seri Maharaja Mangku Negara (SMN), while his wife Datin Seri Jeanne received the Seri Setia Mahkota (SSM) by Tuanku Mizan. Both awards carry the title Tun.

Yes, today marks a new chapter for the country. This is a defining moment in our history. I hope this transition will give Malaysia a good impact in all areas and provide changes aligned with current issues and requirements. Good luck to Datuk Seri Najib.

To Pak Lah our former PM, now the burden of office that he has served so sincerely has been lifted. I would like to thank for all his contributions, wish him well, have a good health and a peace that transcends all that the world can promise.
